At Microsoft Research Cambridge a project prototype called Holodesk was introduced. This prototype lets you feel and touch virtual objects with your hand and displays your hand on the display screen. The prototype uses a see through display and Kinect camera to display an illusion to make the use think and feel like he/she is moving the objects. Microsoft Research is trying to enhance interactive computers such as Xbox Kinect and Wii. They are trying to make inventions that allow to interact with virtual objects.
A video of the Holodesk shows the user’s hand under a glass panel and the 3D realistic looking objects are moving accordingly with the user’s motions. The user performs actions such as moving the objects or stacking or grouping them together.
I think this invention is really cool and very important. This new technology may eventually lead to other futuristic inventions such as holograms and be an insight into what future inventions will be like. Also, this can be a building blocks for other companies such as Sony and Microsoft for video game consoles.
Investors: Microsoft- they have gotten what they want from this project and will be satisfied with the results
Consumers: other companies that may want to use this technology and they will be given a better product
1) Do you think this technology will become more popular in the future?
2)Do think video games will incorporate this technology later in the future?

The Vertical Bed has been made by Inventor Jamie O’Shea , which is exactly what it sounds like, a vertival bed. The invention doesn’t look as comfortable as a bed, but it allowa a person to sleep in a standing position. The Vertical Bed supports a person’s body weight by attaching the two base legs to a subway ventilation grate. I dont think many people would be willing to take sleep, uncocious, in busy streets. The sleeping package comes with noise-cancelling headphones to cancel noise, opaque sunglasses to block the sun, and a free standing umbrella to block the sun and rain. To show his contraption works, o’Shea in the miidle of a street for 40 minutes. O’Shea studies machines and is working on his next project, a new way to concentrate sunlight. His new invention uses inexpensive tools to make hot enough conditions to boil water.
I think this is a waste to money because virtually no one is going to use it and anyways, you can just sleeping at your workplace or go home.
Investors: I dont think the investors will be affected much because the stocks nor the price has gone up
Consumers: consumers will now be able to sleep in the streets
1) Would you buy this invention if it was available to you?
2)Do you think the invention will sell in today’s market?

On October 2011 Apple launched a new phone, the iPhone 4s. The new phone has a better processor and camera that shoots 1080p video and many other features. The two cores in the A5 chip in the phone deliver two times more power and seven times faster graphics. The iPhone 4S costs $200 with a two-year contract. Other the record-breaking pre orders of the iPhone 4S, its not ceratin whethe consumer demand is stronger for the new phone than for the previous phone. The number of companies carrying it is also higher in evrey country. In the US AT&T was the only carrier of the iPhone4 but The iPhone 4S will also be sold by Verizon Wireless and Sprint Nextel Corp. AT&T had taken more than 200,000 pre orders for the iPhone 4S in the first 12 hours, and Apple shares rose 3.8 per cent on Monday.
I think this is a demonstartion of how much Apple is adored and how much their iPhones will sell and how large of a market their is for them.
Investors: due to this stocks will rise which will make investors vert happy
Consumers: people that want the latest and best phone technology will also be thrilled with the new and improved iPhone
Competition: Androids and Blackberrys will now have to release some of their own “new” technology and phones
1) Are you considering buying the iPhone4S?
2) Do you the price for the iPhone4S is reasonable?

Before his death, Steve Jobs was very serious about restricting his life but before he passed away he allowed Walter Isaacson (editor of Time magazine ) to write his biography. There are also rumors that Sony Pictures has put up $3 million to purchase the rights to make Isaacson’s book into a movie. The biography was supposed to be called iSteve: the Book Of Jobs but this title seemed kind of inappropriate so Isaacson made the article just called Steve Jobs from more than 40 conversations with Jobs before he died and many questions answers by him.
I think Sony is a good company and will make a good movie on Steve Jobs’ life. I will maybe watch the movie based on whether the review is good or bad.
Consumers: Poeple that are curious about Steve Jobs and people that like the company Apple and want to know more about it’s former CEO will now have a movie about his life
Are going to buy or read this article?
What do you think was Steve Jobs most impotant invention?

Researchers from Duke University and the Ecole Polytechnic Federale de Lausanne have made and tested technology that allowed monkeys to control a virtual arm. This arm allowed them to feel and touch digital object using brain activity. Electrodes were inserted into specific regions of the brain which controlled the planning, control, and execution of movement and the place which processes data received from cells in the body about touch.
“Such an interaction between the brain and a virtual avatar was totally independent of the animal’s real body, because the animals did not move their real arms and hands, nor did they use their real skin to touch the objects and identify their texture,” said study leader Miguel Nicolelis. “It’s almost like creating a new sensory channel through which the brain can resume processing information that cannot reach it anymore through the real body and peripheral nerves.”
This is indeed very special and new because it allows monkeys to move things virtually with just brain activity. It is just the beginning of many inventions to come, this shows us how technology is developing and how much it already has developed.
Investors- I think the investors will be pleased becuase of the amazing product produced
Possible Comsumers: people with disability that cannot use their limbs will now be able to use virtual ones
What kind of newer and better technologies like this do you think will be made in the future?
Did You Know?” is a video on youtube that gives interesting facts about the world we live in and how it is changing. The ten things in this vidoes that really surprised me are:
- Bermuda is the #1 ranked countries in Broadband Internet Penetration.
- There are 31 Billion searches on Google every month.
- The first commercial text message was sent in December of 1992.
- There are 5x as many words in the English language now as there were in Shakespeare’s time
- In 1984, there were only 1000 internet devices.
- The top ten jobs in demand now ere not there in 2004
- There are over 200 Million users registered on MySpace.
- If MySpace was a Country it would be the 5th largest
- India has more honours kids than America has kids
- Today, text messages sent exceed the total population of the planet
What I think the future will be like in 10 years
I think in the next 10 years, technology will have expanded immmensely and changed almost entirely. What we consider good or amazing today, can become the norm of tommorow. New innovations and inventons will be made such as Jetpacks, flying cars, or teleporting. We do not know what the future has in store for but we can only hope for the best and expect teh unexpected. This video was a good way to show how technology has affected us and how it continues to affect us and what may become of the world in the future.
General thoughts and comments
I found the video very informative about facts about the world which people did not know about. There some very surprsing points in this video about technology. I overall enjoyed the video and learned some interesting facts. The main point of the video is to provide people with information about the future.
